The 2013-14 season is Brian Bailie's ninth as the assistant coach for the Cavaliers.

He was recognized in 2011 as the National Golf Coaches Association's Assistant Women's Coach of the Year. Bailie was instrumental in helping the Cavaliers to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the best showing in the UVa program's history.

During his time at UVa he has seen the Cavaliers qualify for the NCAA Championships the past five years and make it to NCAA Regional play all seven seasons.

Bailie's responsibilities include recruiting correspondence and evaluation, assisting in the design and supervision of practice plans, coordinating travel arrangements, ordering equipment, monitoring academic progress, working with the Virginia Athletics Foundation and on-course coaching.

Bailie joined the UVa staff after four seasons as the head men's and women's golf coach at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. As the Bears' mentor, Bailie guided both programs to new heights.

On the women's side, Bailie led the squad to back-to-back South Atlantic Conference Championships in 2003 and 2004. Those titles were the first two in the program's history.

Bailie led the Bears to their first-ever trips to the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2002 and 2003. Bailie coached eight players to all-league honors and was named SAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year twice (2003 and 2005) as well. He also led Megan Jolly to NCAA Division II first-team All-America accolades in 2002, and the team finished with its highest-ever ranking at No. 8 in the nation.

A 1995 graduate of Virginia Tech, Bailie earned a master's degree in coaching from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2002.

Bailie is a member of the National Collegiate Golf Coaches Association, the Golf Coaches Association of America, the American Junior Golf Association, and the U.S. Golf Association.

Bailie is an authorized instructor of The Golfing Machine, GSEB Certified Instructor of Aimpoint Green Reading and an Edel Golf Fitter.

Bailie and his wife Anita have two daughters - Cassidy and Maisie and a son, Gavin.
