UVa Women's Golfers Finish 13th at Rucker Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, S.C. - The 28th-ranked Virginia women's golf team finished 13th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate held in Hilton Head, S.C. at Long Cove Club. The Cavaliers shot 304 during Sunday's final round for a three-day total of 51-over 903. Duke, ranked No. 3, claimed the team title at 10-over 862.

The 17-team field included 12 teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the most recent Golfstat poll.

Virginia was led by freshman Lauren Diaz-Yi, who was the Cavaliers' top finisher for the second consecutive event. Diaz-Yi shot even par 71 Sunday for a 54-hole total of 10-over 223. She placed 26th overall.

Portland Rosen and Lauren Coughlin tied for 36th place at 12-over 225. Rosen shot 74 during the final round while Coughlin carded a score of 76.

Elizabeth Brightwell and Briana Mao tied for 74th at 235. Mao shot 83 Sunday while Brightwell finished play with an 85.

Duke's Yu Liu and LSU's Caroline Nistrup tied for first place at 2-under 211. Liu was named medalist by using a tiebreaker.

Virginia will wrap up its spring break swing by playing at Florida's SunTrust Gator Invitational March 14-16 in Gainesville, Fla.
