Cavalier Golfers Finish 12th at LSU Classic

Baton Rouge, LA - The 17th-ranked Virginia women's golf team shot 309 during the final round of play at the LSU/Cleveland Classic and finished 12th in the 19-team field. The Cavaliers completed the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 922. Top-ranked Duke took top honors at 872, six shots better than No. 7 Vanderbilt.

Virginia's Leah Wigger posted the Cavaliers top finish. She was 12th overall at 5-over 221. She shot 3-over 75 during Sunday's final round. Jennie Arseneault was 54th at 233, including a 78 over the final 18 holes. Rachel Smith and Kristen Simpson also posted 78s during the final round. Smith was 59th overall at 234 while Simpson placed 66th at 236. Lindsay Robinson was 80th at 239.

Duke's Amanda Blumenherst set a University Club course record by shooting 9-under 207 to take medalist honors by eight shots over three players tied for second at 215.

The Cavaliers return to action March 23 for the three-day Liz Murphey Classic at Georgia.
