UVA Wraps Up Regular Season with 10th Place at Bryan National

Browns Summit, N.C. - The Virginia women’s golf team finished 10th at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C., in the team’s final regular-season tournament. UVA shot 13-over 301 during the final round for a 54-hole total of 33-over 897.

Third-ranked Alabama won the 18-team event with a record score of 13-under 851.

Virginia was led by senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) who shot 3-over 75 during the final round for a tournament total of 7-over 223. She placed 28th overall.

Sophomore Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.), who led UVA after Saturday’s 36 holes of play, dropped back to 39th with an 80 on Sunday. She finished at 9-over 225.

Junior Maho Hayakawa (St. Mary, Fla.) placed 44th at 227. She also posted a final-round score of 75. Sophomore Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) had UVA’s best score during the tourney with a final round 1-under 71. She improved to 49th overall at 228. Freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) rounded out the Cavaliers’ scoring at 238.

Sophomore Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas), who competed as an individual, was 65th at 233.

Alabama’s Kristen Gillman took medalist honors with a tourney record score of 8-under 208 that featured a final round of 66.

The Cavaliers next compete at the ACC Championships in Pawley’s Island, S.C. The 54-hole event runs April 13-15.
