UVa Women's Golfers Finish 11th at Mason Rudolph Championship

Franklin, Tenn. - The 24th-ranked Virginia women's golf team placed 11th at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn. The Cavaliers dropped down on the leaderboard when senior Elizabeth Brightwell was disqualified following the final round for signing an incorrect score card. She had entered Sunday's play leading the tournament, but had dropped back in the pack after finishing play with a 7-over 79.

Virginia completed play at 901, including a final round score of 20-over 308. UCLA won the event at 14-under 850. Arizona State was second at 870.

The Cavaliers top finisher was Alex Hershberger, who was 32nd at 7-over 223 including a 2-under 70 during the final round. Hershberger was competing as an individual and her results did not factor into UVa's team score.

UVa's Portland Rosen was 37th at 224, Briana Mao was 46th at 228, Lauren Diaz-Yi was 63rd at 232 and Lauren Coughlin was 72nd at 235. Rosen and Mao both shot 75 Sunday while Diza-Yi and Coughlin posted scores of 79.

UCLA'a Erynne Lee claimed medalist honors at 7-under 209.

The Cavaliers return to play Oct. 11-13 at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
