Chapel Hill, N.C. - The 12th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team dropped back to 10th place after the second round of action at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia shot 18-over 306 during Saturday’s play for a two-day total of 603. Seventh-ranked Duke continues to lead the field at 578. Arkansas and Louisville share second place at 589.
After 36 holes of competition, senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) leads UVA at 5-over 149. She posted a second round score of 3-over 75 to stand in 25th place. Freshman Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) is in 33rd place at 150 after shooting 76 Saturday.
Junior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), who led UVA during the first round with a 73, carded a second round total of 78 and fell back to 39th place at 151. Sophomore Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, Va.) is in 48th place at 153 and senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) is in 59th place at 155.
Duke’s Leona Maguire leads the field at 3-under 141.
