UVa Women's Golfers Finish Fifth at UNC

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The 24th-ranked Virginia women's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a fifth-place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia shot 5-over 293 during Sunday's final round for a three-day score of 24-over 888. North Carolina won the tournament at 8-over 872.

The 18-team field included eight teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the Golfstat poll.

Senior All-American Brittany Altomare led UVa with a third-place finish. It was her third consecutive top-six finish at a tournament and marked the 16th time she has placed in the top 10 during her career. Altomare shot 2-under 70 Sunday for a 54-hole total of 2-under 214.

Altomare was UVa's top finisher in all four fall tournaments.

Elizabeth Brightwell was 25th at 223 including a 3-over 75 Sunday. Portland Rosen finished with a 73 to move up to 30th place at 224. Nicole Agnello, playing in her first tournament since last March due to a wrist injury, was 55th at 231. She posted a final round score of 75. Freshman Alex Hershberger was 63rd at 233. She shot 77 during the final round.

Florida's Isabelle Lendl took first-place honors at 6-under 210.
