KNOXVILLE, TN - The Virginia women's golf team shot a 297 (+9) in the final round of the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate to finish in 16th place at 932 (+68).

Freshman Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) led the Cavaliers with a 225 (+9), including a career low 71 (-1) in the final round, which gave her a share of 26th place. Freshman Sally Shonk (Nobelsville, Ind.) also had a career low in the final round, shooting a 72 (E), which tied her for 36th place at 228 (+12). Freshman Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 31st at 227 (+11), including a 73 (+1) in the final round. Freshman Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) shot an 81 (+9) to finish in 85th place at 252 (+36). Freshman Kira Mayo (Aventura, Fla.) found herself in 87th place after a final-round 90 (+18) gave her a total of 266 (+50).

Ohio State shot a 296 (+8) to hold its one-stroke lead over Oklahoma State and win the overall championship at 884 (+20). Oklahoma State finished in second place at 885 (+21) after a third-round score of 296 (+8), as well. The Swedish Junior National team came back with a 287 (-1) to take third place at 892 (+28). Ohio State's Allison Hanna and Arkansas' Courtney Mahon tied for medallist honors at 217 (+1). There was a four-way tie for third place at 219 (+3).

Virginia returns to action Oct. 31 - Nov. 2 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, NC.
