UVa Golfers Finish Landfall Tradition in Ninth Place

Wilmington, N.C. - The 30th-ranked Virginia women's golf team finished ninth at The Landfall Tradition tournament in Wilmington, N.C., to finish its fall season. The Cavaliers shot 12-over 300 during the final round for a three-day total of 914. Alabama won the 18-team tournament with a score of 867.

Virginia junior Briana Mao led the Cavaliers during the final round by posting a score of 1-under 71. She moved up to 22nd place on the leaderboard with a 54-hole total of 11-over 227.

UVa's Portland Rosen was 27th at 228, Lauren Diaz-Yi was 33rd at 229, Lauren Coughlin was 55th at 234 and Elizabeth Brightwell was 57th at 236. Diaz-Yi shot 74 on Sunday while Brightwell shot 76, Rosen finished with a 79 and Coughlin shot 80. Evie Dole, playing as an individual, was 87th at 250.

Alabama's Stephanie Meadow claimed medalist honors by shooting 3-under 213.

A total of 12 of the 18 teams competing in the field were ranked in the top-30 of the current Golfstat poll.

Virginia will open its spring season Feb. 14-16 at the Florida State Match-Up Tournament.
