Virginia Stands Second at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Virginia women's golf team stands second of 12 teams after the first round of the Landfall Tradition on Friday.

Purdue holds a two-stroke lead over the Cavaliers with a 302 (+14). Virginia shot a 304 (+16), while Wake Forest is third with a 308 (+20). Host UNC Wilmington is last.

Individually, Tulsa's Leisl Hasbrouck fired a two-under 70 to lead all players. Virginia junior Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.)is second with an even 72. Wake Forest's Mandy Goins is third with a 73 (+1).

Sophomore Lauren Mielbrecht (Gulf Stream, Fla.) is tied for ninth with a shot a 76 (+4). Junior Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) and freshman Carly Truitt (Marysville, Ohio) are tied for 19th with a 78 (+6) each. Junior Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) stands 31st with an 80 (+8).

The second round of the Landfall Tradition begins at 9:12 a.m. at the Country Club of Landfall.
