Oct. 28, 2017

Wilmington, N.C. - A day after tying the Virginia freshman single-round scoring record with a 4-under score of 68 to open the Landfall Tradition tournament, first-year UVA player Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) shot 67 to claim outright ownership of the mark.

Lillie ended the second round of the event tied for first place with Duke's Ana Belac. Lillie compiled a clean score card on Saturday, making five birdies and 13 pars.

Thanks in part to Lillie's play, UVA moved up to eighth place on the leaderboard. Virginia finished the day at 4-over 292 and has a 36-hole score of 11-over 587. Duke continues to lead the 18-team field at 562, one shot better than second-place Alabama.

UVA junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) improved to 34th place with a second-round score of even par 72. Her two-day total stands at 4-over 148. Junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) is in 55th place at 151 after posting a score of 76. Sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) both shot 77. Ford is in 69th place at 153 while Gonzales is 79th at 155.

Using a shotgun start, UVA is paired with Furman and Purdue during Sunday's final round. Those teams begin play at 8:45 a.m. from the sixth through ninth holes. Live scoring of the tournament is online at
