The Virginia women's golf team is in 11th place at the ACC/SEC Challenge. The Cavaliers shot a 312 (+28) in the second round, giving them a two-day total of 604 (+36).
Second-ranked Auburn, who shared the first round lead with the Cavaliers, shot a 271 (-13) in the second round to take a commanding 15-stroke lead over the rest of the field at 563 (-5). Top-ranked Duke is in second at 578 (+10), and Mississippi State is in third at 584 (+16).
Auburn's Diana Ramage carded a tournament record 64 (-7) in the second round and now holds the individual lead at 134 (-8). Mississippi State's Beth Irwin is in second at 138 (-4). Wake Forest's Laura Crawford rounds out the top three at 140 (-2).
The Cavaliers weren't as sharp as they were in the first round. Sophomore Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) is tied for 26th at 149 (+7). Freshman Lauren Mielbrecht (Gulf Stream, Va.) is in a tie for 35th at 151 (+9). Sophomore Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) is tied for 42nd at 152 (+10). Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) is tied for 45th at 153 (+11). Sophomore Sally Shonk (Noblesville, Ind.) came in with a tie for 49th at 154 (+12).
The final round is set to begin Sunday morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on The Raven Course at Sandestin Beach & Golf Resort.
