Sandestin, Fla. - The Virginia women's golf team finished in tenth place in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Sunday. The Cavaliers shot a 304 (+20) in the final round to bring their tournament score to 908 (+56).

Duke, the nation's top-ranked team, proved its ranking by coming from 15 strokes down to beat second-ranked Auburn. The Blue Devils' final round 278 (-6) gave them a total score of 856 (+4), one better than Auburn's 857 (+5). Louisiana State came in a distant third at 879 (+27).

Auburn's Diana Ramage went wire-to-wire to claim individual medallist honors at 206 (-7). Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo, after firing a single-round tournament record 62 (-9), tied for second with Mississippi State's Beth Irwin at 210 (-3). Wake Forest's Ashley Hoagland came in fourth with a score of 214 (+1).

Sophomore Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) led the Cavaliers with a total score of 223 (+10), as she tied for 23rd. Sophomore Sally Shonk (Noblesville, Ind.) shot a 71 (E), the Cavaliers' low round of the tournament, in the final round to jump up to a tie for 32nd at 225 (+12). Sophomore Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) tied for 45th at 230 (+17). Freshman Lauren Mielbrecht (Gulf Stream, Va.) tied for 51st at 232 (+19). Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) tied for 57th at 234 (+21).

The ACC/SEC Challenge concludes the Cavaliers' fall schedule. They will return to action at the Papa John's Collegiate in Coral Gables, Florida in February.
