UVa Women's Golfers Open Rucker Intercollegiate in Third Place

Hilton Head Island, SC - The Virginia women's golf team is tied for third place after the opening 18 holes of play at the inaugural Darius Rucker Intercollegiate taking place in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Cavaliers posted a score of 13-over 297 to trail tournament leader Alabama by nine shots and North Carolina by five strokes.

The tournament is Virginia's first of the spring season.

Brittany Altomare and Briana Mao led the Cavaliers with scores of 2-over 73. They are tied for 10th place. Lauren Greenlief is in 16th place at 74. Nicole Agnello finished with a 77 and is in 45th place. Elizabeth Brightwell shot 80 and is in 65th place.

Alabama's Stephanie Meadow leads the field at 4-under 67.

Saturday'second round of the tournament has been changed to a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Saturday due to inclement weather expected in the area.
