Hilton Head Island, SC - The Virginia women's golf team finished fifth in the 15-team Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C. that wrapped up Sunday. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after Saturday's second round had to be suspended due to lighting in the area.

Virginia finished at 30-over 598, posting rounds of 297 and 301. Alabama took the tournament title by 11-shots at 3-over 571. North Carolina (582) was second followed by Vanderbilt (593) and UCF (596).

The Cavaliers were led by seventh-place finishes from junior Brittany Altomare and freshman Brianna Mao. Both players shot 73 in the opening round and 1-over 72 over the final 18 holes for a two-day total of 3-over 145.

The finish was the 11th top-10 outing during Altomare's career and the first for Mao, whose lowest round in the fall was 76.

Lauren Greenlief was UVa's number-three finisher, shooting 155 to place 43rd. She had rounds of 74 and 81. Nicole Agnello was 49th at 156. She shot 77 Friday and finished her second round with a 79. Elizabeth Brightwell was 60th at 158. She had rounds of 80 and 78.

Virginia heads to Baton Rouge, La., for its second spring tournament when the Cavaliers play in the LSU Invitational March 9-11.
