Cavalier Golfers Enter Final Round at Bryan Collegiate in Fifth Place

Brown Summit, NC - The 24th-ranked Virginia women's golf team moved up to fifth place after the second round of play at the Bryan National Collegiate in Brown Summit, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 305 during the second round to head into Sunday’s final 18 holes at 607. Top-ranked Duke leads the 18-team field at 598, followed by Florida at 599.

The Cavaliers were led Saturday by junior Jennie Arseneault’s 72. She vaulted to fourth place on the leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 146. Arseneault was one of just four players Saturday who shot par or better.

UVa junior Lene Krog had a 76 during the second round to move up to 16th at 151 while Joy Kim climbed to 35th overall with her 77 that put her two-day total at 154. Whitney Neuhauser shot 80 and is 54th at 159. Calle Nielson struggled with an 87 and dropped back to 66th overall at 163.

Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis used a 3-under 69 Saturday to take the lead for medalist honors at 5-under 139. Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst and Steffi Kirchmayr of the College of Charleston are tied for second at 143, three shots ahead of Areseneault.
