UVa Golfers Open Play at Bryan National Collegiate in Eighth Place

Greensboro, NC - The 24th-ranked Virginia women's golf team is in eighth place following the opening round of the Bryan National Collegiate being contested in Greensboro, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 11-over 299 and trail tournament leader Northwestern by nine shots.

Virginia was led by Brittany Altomore's even par 72. She is tied for eighth place following the opening 18 holes. Portland Rosen is in 28th place after firing 75 and Briana Mao and Elizabeth are tied for 38th at 76. Lauren Greenlief is one shot behind them in 43rd place.

South Carolina's Katie Burnett leads the field after shooting 2-under 70.

The second round of the tournament gets underway at 8:20 a.m. Saturday and the final round is set for Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
