CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -
The No. 8 seed Virginia women's golf team participates in its first-ever NCAA East Regional on May 5-7. First round action gets underway on Thursday, May 5 as UVa tees off at 7:40 a.m. In Friday's second round, the Cavaliers begin play at 11:50 a.m. Tee times for Saturday's third and final round will be determined by team standings with the earliest time set for 7:40 a.m. The field of 21 teams and three individuals will play 18 holes each day at the par 70 and 6,023-yard University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. The top eight teams and two individuals from each of the three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championship on May 17-20 on the Meadows Course at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
Participating Teams (21): No. 21 Campbell, No. 16 Coastal Carolina, No. 1 Duke, No. 15 East Carolina, No. 5 Florida, No. 7 Furman, No. 19 Jackson State, No. 20 Jacksonville State, No. 18 James Madison, No. 14 Miami, No. 10 Mississippi State, No. 11 NC State, No. 9 UNC Wilmington, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 2 Pepperdine, No. 17 Princeton, No. 12 South Carolina, No. 6 Tulane, No.13 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Virginia, No. 3 Washington.
Participating Individuals (3): Adrienne White, Louisville; Meghan Little, Louisville; Brooke Mangan, Alabama-Birmingham.
Tournament History: In just its second season of existence, Virginia makes its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship. Top-ranked and ACC champion Duke is the No. 1 seed and defending East Regional champion. The Blue Devils carded an 869 (+5) at last year's regional action, while North Carolina's Meaghan Francella captured medalist honors with a seven-under 209.
