King of Prussia, PA - A year ago Virginia golf Leah Wigger took a one-shot lead into the final round of the Womens' Eastern Golf Association Championship only to finish third, one shot off the lead. This year Wigger made sure it was not a close affair. Carrying a nine-shot lead into Thursday's final round, Wigger took medalist honors at 8-under 211.

Wigger finished eight shots ahead of the rest of the field, the largest margin of victory in the tournament's history. Her 54-hole score was also an all-time tournament mark.

Wigger carded rounds of 70, 70 and 71 on the par-73 Gulph Mills Golf Club in King of Prussia, Pa.

A rising senior at Virginia, Wigger was named a second-team All-American after top-10 finishes at the ACC Championship, NCAA East Regional and NCAA Championships.

Virginia teammate Sally Shonk was ninth overall at 16-over 235 while Cavalier golfer Kristen Simpson finished 40th at 254.

The Championship was open to female amateur golfers, with a certified handicap index of 11.5 or less and who belong to a WEGA Member Club or has school affiliation. The field was limited to the 80 applicants with the lowest handicap index.
