Greensboro, N.C. -
Virginia women's golfers Elizabeth Brightwell and Lauren Greenlief have been named to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced by the ACC today.
Greenlief (Oakton, Va.) was honored for the second time in her career. She was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2010. Greenlief earned her undergraduate degree in economics in three years and competed as a graduate student in 2012. This season she played in nine tournaments and helped the Cavaliers to a fourth-place finish at the NCAAs. She was the female student-athlete recipient of UVa's ACC Scholar-Athlete Award at Virginia's All-Sports Banquet.
Brightwell (Nellysford, Va.) was selected to the All-Academic team for the first time. In 2011-12 she played in all 11 events for the Cavaliers and helped Virginia post a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She was third on the team with a 75.75 stroke average. She was 12th at the ACC Championships and finished 26th at the NCAA Central Regional.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintain a cumulative 3.00 average during her academic career.
