Edmonson Completes Play at U.S. Women's Amateur

Cleveland, Ohio - Virginia sophomore golfer Melissa Edmonson (Coral Gables, Fla.) wrapped up her play at the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur Championships after finishing stroke play in 99th place. After shooting 6-over 78 Tuesday she finished the 36 holes of stroke play at 11-over 155. The cut to advance to match play was 5-over 149.

The tournament is taking place at the par-72, 6,386-yard The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio.

Edmonson got off to a solid start, playing the front nine at 1-over par. She then recorded bogeys on five of her next seven holes to drop out of contention to advance to match play.

Edmonson and the Cavaliers will open the fall portion of their 2012-13 season Sept. 9 at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C.
