Diaz-Yi Advances Wins in Match Play at U.S. Amateur Championship

Charleston, S.C. - Incoming freshman women's golfer Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) won her first contest in match play to advance to the round of 32 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Charleston, S.C.

Diaz-Yi defeated Desiree Dubreuil of Santa Ana, Calif., 4 & 3. She meets top-seed Yumi Matsubara of Japan Thursday. Matsubara won the stroke-play portion of the tournament to earn the top spot in match play.

In June, Diaz-Yi won the USGA's Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Norman, Okla.
