Charlottesville, Va. - The Virginia women's golf team is ranked No. 12 in the Golf World preseason coaches' poll. The Cavaliers are one of four ACC teams to appear in the ranking. Duke is ranked No. 5, North Carolina is No. 6 and NC State is No. 25. Alabama is ranked No. 1 followed by UCLA.

The Cavaliers return the top five scorers from last season led by two-time All-American Brittany Altomare.

The Cavaliers open their season Sept. 9-11 at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C.

Virginia has posted back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Championships.
