UVa Golfers Head to North Carolina

Charlottesville, VA The Virginia women’s golf team plays in its third fall tournament this weekend when it tees off at North Carolina’s Tar Heel Invitational. The 54-hole event takes place Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,285-yard Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill. Tee times start at 9 a.m. off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees Friday and Saturday. A shotgun start will be used for the final round Sunday at 9:15 a.m.

The 18-team field includes 10 teams that are currently ranked in Golfweek’s top 25 poll. The teams competing are: No. 14 Auburn, Central Florida, No. 15 Florida State, Furman, No. 22 Kent State, Kentucky, No. 20 Louisville, No. 21 Michigan State, No. 13 North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, No. 19 South Carolina, Texas A&M, Tulsa, UNC-Greensboro, No. 6 Vanderbilt and No. 23 Wake Forest.

The Cavaliers moved up one spot to No. 8 in this week’s Golfweek standings. UVa opened the season with a third-place finish at The Fall Preview and was fourth at the Cougar Classic. Whitney Neuhauser currently leads the team with a 71.83 stroke average thanks to a second-place showing at the Cougar Classic where she shot a career low 208.

Neuhauser is joined in the UVa lineup for the Tar Heel Invitational by Jennie Arseneault, Lene Krog, Joy Kim and Calle Nielson.
