Wilmington, NC - Behind the play of sophomore Brittany Altomare, the eighth-ranked Virginia women's golf team moved up to fifth place at The Landfall Tradition taking place in Wilmington, N.C. Altomare carded a 4-under 68 to move into first place with 18 holes left to play.

Virginia shot 1-over 289 as a team for a two-day total of 594. Duke leads the field at 575 followed by UCLA and North Carolina at 580. Texas is in fourth place at 593.

Altomare's second round score equaled her best career round and gave her a two-day total of 5-under 139. She holds a one shot advantage over Duke's Lindy Duncan, who shot 66 during Saturday's play.

Joy Kim and Portland Rosen both turned in rounds of 72 to improve their position on the leaderboard. Kim is in 15th place at 148 while Rosen is 28th at 150. Lauren Greenlief shot 77 and is 64th at 154. Calle Nielson is in 77th place at 157.
