The Nittany Lions will be the fourth top-10 team faced by the Cavaliers in the first five games of the season. Virginia defeated No. 6 Loyola, 10-9, before falling to No. 2 Syracuse, 10-9, and No. 1 Maryland, 18-10.
Penn State fell to Loyola, 13-11, on Feb. 23. Virginia will be the second ranked opponent of the season for the Nittany Lions. The Nittany Lions had ten different players score in its 16-9 victory over Duquesne. Maggie McCormick paced the team with six points, including a career-high five assists. Mackenzie Cyr and Kelly Lechner, scored three goals apiece.
In Virginia's home opener against No. 1 Maryland, Casey Bocklet (So., South Salem, N.Y.) added four goals to her team-leading total, giving her 11 this season. Ashlee Warner (Jr., Corning, N.Y.), who leads the team with 15 points, had her second hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist.
Midfielder Lauren Goerz (Jr., Danville, Ca.) got her first start of the season against Maryland, causing a pair of turnovers.
Morgan Stephens (So. Olney, Md.), who scored the Cavaliers' tenth goal of the game, was also the leader on the draw, controlling four.
Daniela Eppler (So., Baltimore, Md.) got three ground balls, giving her a team-high eight on the season.
