CHARLOTTESVILLE - Junior Blair Weymouth has been selected as the WomensLax.com Player of the Week after returning to the Cavalier line-up after an early season injury. In her 2008 debut, the All-American came off the bench and made an immediate offensive impact, leading the No. 2 ranked Cavaliers to a 13-8 win over the fourth-ranked Syracuse Orange.

Weymouth tallied her first goal of the season at the 14:54 mark to put Virginia up two, at 3-1. It wasn’t until the second-half that Weymouth scored again, as she notched a second goal with 17:51 remaining in the contest, again putting the Cavaliers up two, this time at 8-6.

Her final two scores were the last two of the game, securing the win for Virginia.

The Cavaliers’ 13 goals were particularly noteworthy, as Syracuse’s defense had allowed only 2.13 goals per game coming into the contest.

Virginia will be back in action tomorrow evening, taking on ACC-rival No. 5/4 Maryland in a 7 p.m. game in College Park, Md. The match-up will be televised by CSTV.
