CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 15 Virginia women’s lacrosse team (6-4) hosts Oregon (7-4) on Wednesday (March 29) at 7 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.
The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra and can be viewed through ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app. Links for the stream, as well as live stats, are available on VirginiaSports.com. Wednesday night’s contest is a Sabre Rewards event, which includes free Domino’s pizza for students in attendance.
Virginia is coming off an 18-5 victory over then-No. 17 Duke on Saturday. The Cavaliers have won four-straight games, holding each of their opponents to less than seven goals in that span. As a team, the Cavaliers lead the ACC with 20.90 ground balls per game and are second with 10.90 caused turnovers per contest.
Senior Besser Dyson (Alexandria, Va.) earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling nine points in UVA’s two wins last week, including scoring three goals with three assists against Duke. Senior Kelly Reese (Severna Park, Md.) had seven goals last week and now ranks eighth in the ACC with 2.90 goals per game.
Sophomore Maggie Jackson (Alexandria, Va.) is leading the league in ground balls (3.10/game), is third in caused turnovers (1.60/game) and fourth in assists (1.60/game). Junior goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk (Severna Park, Md.) had a season-high 12 saves against the Blue Devils and ranks fifth in the league with 7.20 saves per game.
This is the first meeting between Virginia and Oregon.
Oregon is coming off a 17-12 win over George Mason on Monday night. The Ducks rank sixth in the nation with 7.36 assists per game and are 14th nationally with 20.64 points per game. Shannon Williams leads the PAC 12 with 3.18 goals per game, netting 35 on the season. Cambi Cukar ranks seventh in the NCAA with 2.55 assists per game, dishing out 28 this season. Goalkeeper Becca Katzen is averaging 5.27 saves per game, with a 10.64 goals against average. Katzen leads the Ducks with 25 ground balls.
Virginia returns to ACC action on Saturday, traveling to Boston College. The Cavaliers and Eagles are set for a 1 p.m. opening draw in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
