Cavaliers pick up Varsity Eight, Novice Eight titles
2011-12 • A member of the varsity squad 2010-11 • Member of the Third Varsity Eight that won its grand final at the Oak Ridge Invitational • Rowed with the Third Varsity Eight that posted wins over Clemson, Texas and Michigan State at the Cavaliers' home regatta at Lake Monticello
2009-10 • A member of the Novice Eight that finished second in the grand final at the South/Central Regional Championships • Competed with the Novice Eight that finished ahead of Pennsylvania on the Rivanna Reservoir • A member of the 2010 ACC Champion Novice Eight • Rowed with the Third Varsity Eight `B' that finished ahead of Yale and Princeton • Tallied a victory over Michigan with the Novice Eight at Lake Monticello
High School • Earned three varsity letters in crew at Phillips Exeter Academy for coach Sally Morris • Member of the First Varsity Eight in 2009 that finished first at the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association and second at Youth Nationals • That year, the team swept the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association and Metcalf was named Team MVP • Part of the First Varsity Eight that finished first and set a course record at New England Interscholastic Rowing Association in 2008 • In 2007, rowed with the Second Varsity Eight • Earned Academic High Honors for two years • Also earned five varsity letters in swimming and was a 2006 400 freestyle relay All-American Personal • Parents are Dr. Joseph Metcalf IV and Kathleen Metcalf • Has a brother, Joseph Metcalf V, who swam and played water polo at Bucknell University, and a sister, Jessica Metcalf Lutfi, who swam at College of Wooster
