UVA Wins 11 of 12 Races at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Virginia rowing team won 11 of 12 races to open the 2017 season at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational Saturday (March 11) on Melton Hill Lake.

The Cavaliers swept all six of their races in the morning session. UVA posted wins in the Varsity Eight (6:32.6) Varsity Four (7:19.5), Third Varsity Eight (6:50.3, Second Varsity Eight (6:37.0), Second Varsity Four (7:16.9) and Third Varsity Four (7:40.5) over Michigan State, Notre Dame and West Virginia.

In afternoon racing, Virginia won five of six races against Miami, Louisville and Tulsa. The Cavaliers registered wins in the Varsity Eight (6:30.8), Varsity Four (7:18.7), Third Varsity Eight (6:54), Second Varsity Eight (6:37.9) and Second Varsity Four (7:28.2). UVA's Third Varsity Four (7:47) finished second behind Louisville (7:39.6).

The action concludes Sunday morning (March 12) when the Cavaliers compete against Tennessee, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State and Clemson.
