CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Virginia women's rowing team completed its trip to the Boston area with a successful competition against the University of Texas on April 26. Virginia won the first novice eight, the first varsity four, the second varsity eight and the first varsity eight races against the Longhorns.

Because of weather conditions, the races were run in two pieces that each lasted 3:30 with three minutes in between. UVa had competed against Radcliffe and Yale earlier in the day.

In the novice eight race, Virginia's first novice eight won the first piece by one length over Texas with UVa's second novice eight boat another length back. The Cavaliers' first novice eight also won the second piece by one and a half lengths over Virginia's second novice eight with Texas another three quarters of a length back.

In the varsity four competition, UVa's first varsity four finished three lengths ahead of the Cavaliers' second varsity four in the first piece with Texas just five feet back. In the second piece, Virginia's first varsity four finished three lengths ahead of UVa's second varsity four with Texas one length back.

In the second varsity eight race, Virginia won the first piece by two lengths over Texas. The Cavaliers also won the second piece by one and three quarter lengths.

In the first varsity eight competition, UVa finished two lengths ahead of Texas in the first piece. Virginia won the second piece by one length.

The UVa women's rowing team is scheduled to return to action on May 18 at the Eastern Sprints in Camden, N.J.
