The University of Virginia women's rowing team's "A" boat finished third in the open eight competition at the Princeton Chase on Sunday (Oct. 26). In the open four competition, the Cavalier "A" and "C" boats finished third and fourth, respectively. The regatta was held on Lake Carnegie, in Princeton, N.J.
The women's open eight competition was won by the Princeton "A" boat (15:16.59). The Yale "A" boat took second place (15:25.99), and the Virginia "A" crew finished third, with a time of 16:00.81.
The Princeton "A" boat also placed first in the women's open four competition with a time of 17:25.17. The Syracuse "A" crew followed in second place (17:39.01), in front of the Virginia "A" boat (17:43.01) and the Virginia "C" boat (17:50.55).
The eight "A" boat was comprised of coxswain Danielle Sewell, Jennifer Reck, Renee Albers, Yvonne Epp, Lindsay Shoop, Margaret Matia, Sara Lippa, Genevieve Cauchon-Voyer, and Melanie Kok.
UVA's eight "B" boat finished in 11th place with a time of 16: 21.01. The crew was made up of coxswain Launa Forehand, Katie Yrazabal, Crystal MacLeod, Carolyn McMillan, Kathryn Waller, Beth Clark, Julie Creighton, Mary Dobmeier and Jessica Haury.
Virginia had three crews finish in the top ten in the open four competition. The "A" boat, was made up of coxswain Betty Shumaker, Yvonne Epp, Renee Albers, Genevieve Cauchon-Voyer and Melanie Kok.
The Virginia open four "C" boat was manned by coxswain

Crystal MacLeod, Caroyln McMillan and Kathryn Waller.
Virginia's "B" crew came in 10th (18:07.15). The team was comprised of coxswain Danielle Sewell, Jennifer Reck, Lindsay Shoop, Margaret Matia and Sara Lippa.
The next competition for the UVa women's rowing team will be on Sunday (Nov. 2), when the Cavaliers compete against the Georgetown Novices in Washington, D.C.
