CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia rowing head coach Kevin Sauer announced the Cavaliers' 2017 schedule on Thursday (Jan. 26). The seven-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champions will compete in seven regattas, including one scrimmage.

Virginia opens the 2017 season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, set for March 11-12 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Last year, the Cavaliers won 17 of 18 races at the regatta, which has served as UVA's official Spring opener for several seasons.

The Cavaliers will host two regattas on the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va. The first competition will be a scrimmage against Duke on Saturday, April 8, with the second against Texas on Saturday, April 29.

UVA competes against national powers California, Washington and Stanford at the Pac-12 Invite in Redwood Shores, Calif., on Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2. Virginia heads to the Clemson Invite on Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23 in Clemson, S.C.

The 18th ACC Rowing Championships will be held on Sunday, May 14 in Clemson, S.C., marking the eighth-straight year the Tigers have hosted the regatta. Virginia has won 16 of the 17 conference championships and has claimed 64 of the 70 events contested. The conference regatta will once again have five events, including the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four.

The NCAA Championships return to Mercer County Park, N.J., on May 26-28 after two years in Gold River, Calif. The Cavaliers placed third at the NCAA Championships last season.
