CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia rowing team opens its 2014 spring season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational Saturday and Sunday (March 15-16) in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

On Saturday, the Cavaliers will face off against Minnesota in the morning before competing against ACC newcomer Notre Dame in the afternoon. Virginia will face Michigan State and host Louisville on Sunday morning. The Cavaliers will have seven boats competing in each session (three varsity eights, three varsity fours and a novice eight).

Other schools racing at the regatta include Alabama, Dayton, Duke, Kansas, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

In the fall, the UVa Varsity Eight was the top collegiate boat at the Head of the Charles for the third consecutive year and finished the fall season undefeated.

Up next, Virginia heads out west for the Pac-12 Invite March 29-30 in Redwood Shores, Calif.
