CHARLOTTESVILLE The sixth-ranked Virginia rowing team, fresh off a season-opening sweep of Bucknell last weekend, heads to the Pac-10 Challenge for competition on Saturday and Sunday in Redwood City, Calif.

The Pac-10 Challenge, presented by Windermere Real Estate, will take place at Redwood Shores and is a two-day regatta and free community festival. The regatta will feature more than 114 crew races between the nation's top universities as well as more than 400 club and high school rowers.

Athletes will compete in two days of Henley-style racing, a one-on-one or a two-boat race used for competition at the famous Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England.

In the morning session on Saturday, Virginia will race against No. 5 California. With all start times listed as pacific/local, the Varsity Eight race starts at 9:24 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity Eight (10:28 a.m.), the Varsity Four (11:16 p.m.), and the Novice Eight (12:04 p.m.).

UVa opened its season at home last weekend, defeating Bucknell in three varsity races and two novice events.
