CHARLOTTESVILLE - The University of Virginia women's rowing team returns to action this weekend with competitions in California and Washington, D.C.

On Saturday and Sunday (March 29-30), three Virginia crews are scheduled to compete in the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic at Stanford University. The Cavaliers will compete in the varsity eight, the second varsity eight and the varsity four against Stanford and Southern California on Saturday, and against California-Berkeley on Sunday.

California-Berkeley finished third, Virginia fourth and Stanford tenth in the team competition at last year's NCAA Women's Rowing Championships.

Virginia crews will also be competing against Georgetown in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. The second varsity four, first novice eight, second novice eight, first novice four and second novice four crews are scheduled to compete against the Hoyas.

The competitions are the first for UVa since the Cavaliers opened their 2003 spring schedule by winning every race against Columbia University, San Diego State University and the University of Delaware on March 15 at the Rivanna Reservoir.
