CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - After debuting at No. 3 in the preseason poll, the Virginia women's varsity eight crew has moved up to No. 2 nationally in the first weekly poll, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.

California, which earned 14 of the 25 first-place votes, earned the top spot in the poll. Virginia earned eight first-place votes to garner second, while Brown earned the remaining three first-place votes for third. Ohio State, Yale, Princeton, Washington, Southern Cal, Tennessee, and Minnesota rounded out the Top 10.

The second-ranked Cavaliers open their spring season with the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, featuring Duke, No. 19 Michigan and No. 4 Ohio State, on March 31 at Lake Monticello.
