CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Five members of the Virginia rowing team have been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-South Region teams, the CRCA announced Tuesday (May 28).

Graduate student Sarah Cowburn (Worcester, England), seniors Kristine O’Brien (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Susanne Grainger (London, Ontario) and junior coxswain Sarah Jordan (Flourtown, Pa.) were named to the All-South Region First Team, while junior Fiona Schlesinger (Surrey, United Kingdom) was selected to the second team.

All five were members of the Cavalier Varsity Eight that captured the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and was named ACC Crew of the Year. All five were also recognized on the All-ACC squad.

This is O’Brien’s third consecutive first-team nod, Cowburn’s second straight honor and Grainger, Jordan and Schlesinger’s first. O’Brien is a two-time CRCA First Team All-American, while Cowburn was honored on the first team in 2012.

The Cavaliers won their fourth consecutive ACC title and 13th conference crown in 14 years. UVa competes in the 2013 NCAA Championships Friday through Sunday (May 31-June 2) on Eagle Creek Park Lake in Indianapolis, Ind. Virginia won its second team national title in 2012.
