CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Farrah Edwards has been named assistant coach for the Virginia rowing program, head coach Kevin Sauer announced Wednesday (Nov. 1). Edwards arrives in Charlottesville after serving as an assistant coach at Rutgers for the past two seasons.
“Farrah brings a wealth of knowledge to our program,” Sauer said. “She rowed at Ohio State, directed a club program and coached/recruited at Rutgers. We look forward to her imparting that knowledge here at Virginia.”
While at Rutgers, Edwards coached the Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four in 2015, and Second Varsity Eight in 2016. She also served as the Scarlet Knights’ recruiting coordinator and managed student-athlete development for the team.
“I feel very fortunate to join the staff here at UVA and look forward to working with the women in this program,” Edwards said.
Edwards spent three years (2012-15) as a club coach, serving as the rowing director and head coach of Dublin Crew in Columbus, Ohio. She was responsible for program development across four squads, producing training plans and hiring a part-time coaching staff.
As head coach of the Dublin Crew, Edwards guided the girls four and girls lightweight pair to top-four finishes at the Midwest Junior Championships. Edwards also coached the girls pair (11th), girls lightweight four (13th) and the girls four (17th) at the Youth Nationals.
A 2010 graduate of Ohio State, Edwards was a member of the Varsity Four that won a Big Ten championship and placed seventh at the NCAA championship. Edwards, who was a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete, earned Big Ten Scholar-Athlete honors in 2008.
