Rivanna Romp Highlights Weekend Of Rowing Action

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
The Virginia rowing team will host Iowa in a scrimmage on Friday, Nov. 14, and also host the Rivanna Romp on Sunday, Nov. 16. Both events will be on the Rivanna Reservoir in Charlottesville, with Friday’s scrimmage taking place at 4 p.m. and action on Sunday morning beginning at 9 a.m.

On Sunday, Virginia eight crews will race against Ohio State, Tennessee, Iowa, Miami, Duke and Pennsylvania in a 4,000-meter head race. There will be four Virginia boats in competition.

At 10:30 a.m., three Virginia novice eight boats will race Tennessee, Duke and Old Dominion, also in a 4,000-meter head race.

At 11:15 a.m., the teams will break down into smaller boats and race again in fours, pairs and doubles.

At last year’s Rivanna Romp, UVa finished first in the women's varsity eight, women's novice eight, women’s four, women’s double and women’s single.
