Virginia Defeats Washington 4-2 In Women's Soccer

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jill Maxwell scored twice to lead the University of Virginia women's soccer team to a 4-2 victory over the University of Washington on Saturday (Sept. 13) in the adidas/Lady Foot Locker Classic. The victory improved Virginia's record to 3-0-1.

Maxwell scored UVa's first half goal on an assist from Angela Hucles as the teams battled to a 1-1 halftime tie. She scored again at 58:47 off an assist from Tracy Lache to give the Cavaliers a 3-1 lead.

Katie Tracy scored at the 55:55 mark on an assist from Wendy Hartwig to break the 1-1 tie and give Virginia the lead for good. After Washington pulled within 3-2 with just over 15 minutes to play, Hucles scored the Cavaliers' final goal unassisted to provide the two goal margin of victory.

Virginia plays Portland in the adidas/Lady Foot Locker Classic on Sunday (Sept. 14).
