Cavaliers Zagol Cited by ACC

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia starting pitcher Stacey Zagol (Berwyn, Pa.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Co-Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending April 13, 1997. Zagol earned three ACC victories over Maryland and Georgia Tech (two), including two complete-game shutouts. In 17.0 innings of work, she allowed just 10 hits, while fanning nine batters. She did not allow a walk or a run all week. Opposing batters hit just .164 against Zagol.

Zagol's efforts helped the Cavaliers extend their winning streak to five games and earn the second-seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament (April 17-19 in Marietta, Ga.). Florida State's Kristy Fuentes shared the award with Zagol.
