Virginia Names Assistant Softball Coach
Charlottesville, Va. - Meshia Caswell has been named assistant softball coach by Cheryl Sprangel, head coach of the Virginia softball program. Caswell comes to Virginia after serving in a similar role the past three seasons under Sprangel at Toledo.
Caswell, a native of Laingsburg, Mich., was a two-year starter at third base for Sprangel at Toledo. She went to Toledo after playing two seasons at Lake Michigan Community College where she earned NJCAA All-America honors. Caswell hit .281 with 37 RBI in 110 games in a Rocket uniform. Since Caswell joined the Toledo program as an assistant coach, the Rockets have won 56 games in three seasons.
