CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (10-16) opens up a five-game home stand with a doubleheader against Towson (8-10) on Tuesday (March 21). Game one is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at The Park.

Leading Off
-Tuesday will be the 22nd meeting between Virginia and Towson.
-Tuesday will be the first midweek home game for Virginia in 2017 (4-7 at home in 2016).
-Towson has won the last three games vs. UVA including a doubleheader sweep in 2016.
-The Virginia offense has placed a runner on base in 12 consecutive innings.
-The Tigers haven’t played a game since March 5 due to weather.
-Virginia has scored 63 of its 117 runs this season (54%) in the fifth inning or later.
-18 of the Cavaliers 26 home runs (69%) this season have come in the fifth inning or later.
-The eight wins by Virginia before March 1 were the most since 2012.

Game Notes
Weekend Review: The Cavaliers were on the short side of a three-game sweep at N.C. State this past weekend and have now lost a season-high, four-straight games. The Wolfpack offense scored 27 runs in three games and came away with a 9-1, run-rule victory in the series finale.

Hit Parade: On Saturday (March 18), Virginia had its comeback fall short in an 8-6 loss to N.C. State. In the contest, the Cavaliers racked up 17 hits, the most in a single game since April 4, 2006 when they collected 18 against Liberty.

Limiting Mistakes: In three games and 68 chances against N.C. State, Virginia committed just one error. In the last eight contests, the Cavaliers defense has produced five error-less games.

Red-hot Hoo: Junior Allison Davis is batting .611 (11-for-18) with three doubles a triple and two RBis in her last five games. She’s currently riding a career-high, seven-game hit streak and leads the team with a .387 batting average. She is tied for sixth in the league with 36 hits on the season.

Long Ball Leader: Sophomore Olivia Gott put a stop to the team’s six-game home run drought on Saturday (March 18) in the fifth inning with her team-leading sixth home run. Four of her six homers have come in the fifth inning or later. Through the first 18 games, Virginia led the Atlantic Coast Conference in home runs.

Against Towson: The Tigers hit six home runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Cavaliers last season. Virginia owns a 12-9 advantage in the all-time series but has lost the last three games to Towson. The Cavaliers are 7-2 in Charlottesville against Towson in a series that dates back to 1981.

Up Next: The No. 1 Florida State Seminoles come to The Park for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
