Boiko Qualifies for Main Draw at Clay Court Championships

ORLANDO, Fla -- University of Virginia women's tennis player Paige Boiko defeated Aarthi Venkatesan of Georgia 6-3, 6-3 today to qualify for the main draw at the ITA National Clay Court Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla.

This is Boiko's first appearance in the main draw at the national clay court tournament. She lost in the qualifying round the last two years. The junior from Miami, Fla., is the first Cavalier to play in the main draw since Alison Cohen in 1995.

Boiko faces Marissa Catlin of Georgia in the first round of the main draw tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Catlin is ranked 17th in the preseason Rolex singles rankings.
