PRINCETON, NJ - The No. 33 ranked Virginia women's tennis team won their fifth consecutive match, defeating Princeton Saturday 6-1 at Jadwin Gym. It was the Cavaliers second consecutive win over an Ivy League opponent after downing Brown last weekend in Charlottesville.

Virginia opened the match strong by sweeping the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. No. 38 ranked Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Mariko-Fritz-Krockow (Fairfax, Va.) cruised to a win at No. 1 doubles, while Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) and Shannon Stough (Hot Springs, Ark.) won at No. 2 and Caroline Hammond (Williamsburg, Va.) and Kyle Montgomery (Charlottesville, Va.) won at No. 3.

The Cavaliers (6-1) carried that momentum into singles play, where they took five of the six matches. Fritz-Krockow, James, and Stough all recorded their second win of the day as they won at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6 singles respectively. Marta and Dora Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) also added singles wins for Virginia at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions.

"I am very pleased with how we are continuing to improve with every match, especially in doubles," said Virginia assistant coach Mait DuBois. "Today we got great performances from Kristen and Dora. We are going to need to play well again tomorrow when we play a tough Penn team."

The Cavaliers conclude their weekend trip on Sunday as they visit No. 45 Penn.
