BOCA RATON, FLA - The No. 41 ranked Cavalier women's tennis team opened their spring break trip to Florida with a pair of wins over ranked opponents on Monday. The Cavaliers topped No. 75 Boston College 6-1 in their morning match before defeating No. 72 Florida Atlantic in the afternoon.

In both matches, Virginia swept the three doubles matches. The No. 56 ranked team of Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Jennifer Tuchband (Millburn, N.J.) won twice at No. 1 doubles, Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) and Lori Stern (Ojai, Calif.) won twice at No. 2 doubles, and Dora and Marta Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) won twice at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, the Bechliwanis twins each won a pair of singles matches while Williams, Tuchband, Stern, James, and Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) all posted one singles win.

"We were tested today by two ranked opponents and the Florida heat that we aren't used to playing in," stated Virginia head coach Phil Rogers. "We came through today well and got two important wins."

Virginia continues its Florida trip on Wednesday as they visit Florida International.
