LYNCHBURG, Va. – A trio of Cavaliers advanced to day four at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Saturday as seniors Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), and Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.), and junior Victoria Olivarez (Virginia Beach, Va.) all won a pair of matches in the event.
Seven Cavaliers entered the day with the two seniors and junior advancing through to Sunday’s quarterfinal round. Elbaba and Morton will pay Sunday morning with a chance to face each other in the semifinals on Sunday afternoon, while Olivarez advanced on the other side of the bracket.
Senior Maci Epstin (Winter Park, Fla.) picked up a win in her first match of the day, before falling in the second contest of the afternoon. Senior Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) and freshmen Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Me.) and Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) all lost in their first match of the day.
In doubles action, the Cavaliers had two of three teams advance with the pairing of Elbaba and Morton posting a victory over the pairing of Fusinato and Williford from Virginia Tech. The pairing of Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Kelley advanced by defeating fellow Cavaliers Epstein and Olivarez in their match.
Singles competition will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, while the semifinal round of doubles will be played at 12:30 p.m.
