Women's Tennis Competes at East Coast Championships

NORFOLK, VA - The Virginia women's tennis team began competition at the East Coast Championships Friday at Old Dominion University. The three-day event will run through Sunday.

In Flight A, the two seeded Cavaliers, Henriette Williams and Jennifer Tuchband were upset in the first two rounds. However, first year Lori Stern won two matches in the flight to advance to the quarterfinals, including an upset of second seeded Lara Ercegovic of Temple. In Flight B, twins Dora and Marta Bechliwanis, along with Lauren Bruch all advanced to the quarterfinals. In Flight C, Kyle Montgomery won a pair of matches to reach the quarterfinals.

Doubles play will begin on Saturday along with singles play in the quarterfinals round.
