CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 12 Virginia women's tennis team opens its 2012 dual match season at No. 47 VCU on Friday, Feb. 1. First serve at Thalhimer Tennis Center in Richmond is set for 3 p.m.

Virginia holds a 10-9 all-time series advantage over the Rams (5-1) and returns four starters from last year's team that tied a school-record with 20 wins and advanced to the NCAA round of 16 for the second consecutive season.

Virginia freshman Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) is ranked No. 4 in the first ITA singles rankings of 2013, while freshman Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 43 and Li Xi (Kunming, China) is ranked No. 44.

The Cavaliers are the lone team to have a pair of doubles tandems ranked in the top 10. Senior Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and freshman Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) are ranked No. 5, while junior Xi and Nauta are ranked No. 10.

Virginia hosts the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at Boar's Head Sports Club on Feb. 8-11.
